If you boss “awards” you a pay or benefit cut or a demotion and you don’t appeal it – whether to them or a governmental agency in due course within a certain limited time frame then lots of luck lol to you.

True you may be afraid of repercussions or upsetting the apple cart – its your lost cause.

Failure to bring attention or appeal the situation , event or events can be seen as acquiescence even approval. Its up to you don’t delay. Failure to bring notice or respond indicates both to the supervisor , boss or employer that you agree with the award , situation or event/s both in a personal, moral and legal framework.

You can bring notice in writing – letter or email, through a 3rd party – such as a lawyer or government agency such as a labour board. Just keep notes and records. Otherwise yet against you will SOL out of luck and screwed once more and again. As if once was not enough.

]]> All of us have a basic and integral need for appreciation by other in life.   Otherwise we would all be hermits or at least solitary like the lives of most hamsters.

Yet when this need becomes too strong, over demanding or even pathological then it becomes an issue.

At hand may be your boss or supervisor.   If your boss has an overwhelming need to be “liked’ you can show that you do respect him or her , but that legitimate results are much more important to life , to the world and in this case to work and the organization than simple popularity.

At the end of the day when you leave the office , you are going to be the same person who entered in the morning.  Whom likes you and who does not – does it really matter to any great or greatest degree.  On top of that when you get down to it – much of what goes on in life and in the minds of others is serendipity that you have little control or influence over what so ever.

Yet you may get a superior that when you attempt to discuss this just stares off in space.

Talk about a lack of rationality of cause and effect.  You would think first of all you are at your place of employment for an income to feed yourself and your family , or perhaps gaining expertise and experience for a better or another job.

Yet the moron may just stare into deep space. Who knows why.  Do they consider you a peon who is beneath their discussion of the matter – that you and your view really don’t count ?
Or is this that they see such questions as a direct threat to their power and position – that you want their job and are “causing trouble “?  Or is it that they are a drunkard nursing over the last

hangover ?  Or is that they are just morons ?

The truth is its probably a combination of all of the above.

]]> It can be said and noted that the primary reason that people leave their jobs is because of their interpersonal relationships with their supervisors.Perhaps it goes back to “Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs ” and the reliving or families of origin especially cases of family dysfunction.

Usually for a worker or employee to leave their job its seldom about pay , benefits , the company car or even because of organizational departments.. Rather its often always circles around that they are not getting along with their direct supervisor. Then again it might be similar to ladies of the night handing over most of their take to their pimp / manager as they are in deep love with them – or again reliving family of origin relationship background issues.

In warning it might be said that the perspective supervisor should do their best to give candidates a better opportunity to determine whether this is the sort of person or personality that can respect and develop a good rapport with. If they feel or determine that there is a good fit or “chemistry” with the supervisor , then , if hired,that there is a good chance – or better that they will emerge as a happier and more engaged employee. Lots of luck. LOL do you believe in the tooth fairy in 2011 when jobs are in short supply ?

Yet one wonders where the role of bosses or that of supervisor staff came into play or into the limelight ?????
At the worst it could be said that at least the women of the night are performing an important social function and have some value in life , and as well are performing an honest days work

Not so with most politicians ( especially the current crop) and most bosses or supervisors

It might be well said that America and American politicians are not involved in a true “democracy”
I voted Republican / Democrat because my father / pappy did is the  refrain of most

It can be said that the situation is not unlike that in a country town with two drugstores

Troublesome customers can go back and forth between the two establishments with their imagined woes

On top of that , when problems arise ( as they are bound to do in life) , the customer can go to the “other one” to come back later

Thus if problems do happen on the job , or in interactions the establishment / management is never held to task or asked to be truly accountable

To a large degree , good communication requires mutual understanding a two way street. and adequate information about the subjects on hand involved. Lol when it comes to your boss. His only concern may be in getting into the customer’s pants.

Empathy ? Forget that.

Empathy means in general situating yourself to understand a situation. Communication has to improve to the degree that a person can see, sense and fully “feel” what the other person is seeing , comprehending or understanding. Lots of luck when you have a closed mind , that is all about power and inflicting your own power over others.

Ultimately intelligent and wise people learn in life that ultimately you can control very little in life – not even yourself to the greatest degree so don’t even try.

You might well think that your manager grew up in the family of an alcoholic top down management style  of  the Romans,  a biker gang , General Motors or perhaps the railway.

Some things remain in the blood so to speak , and can never be learnt over , or unlearned.

    Many do indeed lament the fact that “they are too soon old and too late smart”. Having failed to get a good education or skills . they feel trapped in a low paying and/ or boring job and / or stupid , most stupid or controlling boss , supervisor or manager. But wanting to get out of a boring job or other employment may provide just the motivation that you need to get more or additional training.

If you want to determine the speed you cannot this determine its position. So is with management measuring systems. If you want to watch and measure – then the results are not valid and true. Yet is all about control in the end. How foolish.

    In life you ultimately learn that you have very little control – in simple terms. If you have control over your own actions that is an accomplishment in itself. Certainly you have little control over other places things and most importantly in relation to the pathological mind of most managers – other people. Yet these managers spend their entire working thoughts working to control – some say enslave others. “I am the boss”, “The rules are golden and they are my rules”. How stupid and foolish. How entirely unproductive. You would think that this is the behavior of an anal retentive 4 year old. Legends in their own mind.
