The son – caring for his elderly 100 year old mother in hospital – was complaining to a friend about attempts by staff on the ward to have the mother “paneled”  to place her in a “nursing home”.  First of all things were fine as they were -  I won’t go into what landed her in the hospital but it had nothing to do with care at home.

The mother was a “farm woman”  whom was most happy in her surroundings – there was some Alzheimer type dementia by now – but it was sporadic

The mother was most happy at home , among her cats and dogs – the small dog protected her fiercely.

Put in a nursing home – the professionals would of devalued her “quality of life”  .

On top of that they were basically giving her a death sentence.

Yet they were determined and insistent none they less – they like good socialists and President Obama new what was better for you – than you do.

A move to the nursing home would basically of been a death sentence for this poor soul.

For sure they most likely were going to have a high end symposium conference with state of the art speakers – or perhaps an internet conference call conference on “QOL ” that is Quality of Life – its importance in treatment plans , and its measurements .

75 % of the executives in these ” high positions  and jobs”   say they are on the verge of burnout or suffering from extreme fatigue.

Disability claims among these government workers as a whole are climbing with 30 to 40 % estimated to be for depression.  Indeed mental health claims doubled between the years 1997 and 2007 and now account for fully 45 %  of all claims.

What could be the reason for these problems in paradise ?

What is stated by the participants is that there is a quandry of meetings , distractions and more meetings, utlimately with no one in charge.

Go figure !  One might of thought that it was only in the private sector that one would have these problems.  The civil service is generally regarded as a low stress , but stable job.  On top of that add in unions , the power of union grievances as protection and ultimately early and lucrative pensions

Government workers generally hide behind the power of facade of government – the “crown ” in Canada . “Crown Corporations ” even though allegedly privatized , can not be held liable for their actions or damages.

So what is the problem ? “What’s the frequency Kenneth ?” .  If you cannot stand the heat get out of the kitchen.  Or is it too cushy and you are afraid to “get a real job”.

It should be pointed out that the end result of these searched for terms , and personality types elucidated by these wonderful tests ( if the tests are accurate by any means in the real world at all)  , will result in a whole host of  odd almost anti-social, if not deranged individuals , who will be of little value to the firm or workplace and indeed will serve as dead wiehgt and a deterrent to any productive work at all.  One might think that the firm or firms are searching for the likes of Charles Mansion , the Son of Sam or the Zodiac Killer themselves.

Indeed perhaps they have had inadvertently hired the Zodiac already and he is standing beside you as  your very  boss.
