]]> In most cases if allegations are made by you against your boss – lol – you will be waiting in the wings for legal judgement. The story was told of a long term employee at a big box store who although highly productive was seen to be lackadaisical by new management.

To crack the whip and “teach staff a message about who is boss” ( by new management) the senior employee was fired in haste. To newer staff in the store and on the sales floor it was a shock . If it could happen to “X” it could happen to any of us – better get out there on the floor and stock shelves or sell more product.

Yet first ideas were to call discrimination or such such tactic. Yet the ace in the hole for the employee was that the shop – indeed the operation was one giant revolving door of employment. If the employee won a case in court – or from the local labor authorities – who knows what could come out of the woodwork in terms of other claims and judgements .

With one lawyers letter head office got the message . The idea was to hire the former employee back – give him his job at a distant outlet , it will a long drive gas costs money – and the re-hire will quit resign . Hence a self limiting situation.

In the end it worked out well for the former / now new employee at the new store where he prospered.

If you boss “awards” you a pay or benefit cut or a demotion and you don’t appeal it – whether to them or a governmental agency in due course within a certain limited time frame then lots of luck lol to you.

True you may be afraid of repercussions or upsetting the apple cart – its your lost cause.

Failure to bring attention or appeal the situation , event or events can be seen as acquiescence even approval. Its up to you don’t delay. Failure to bring notice or respond indicates both to the supervisor , boss or employer that you agree with the award , situation or event/s both in a personal, moral and legal framework.

You can bring notice in writing – letter or email, through a 3rd party – such as a lawyer or government agency such as a labour board. Just keep notes and records. Otherwise yet against you will SOL out of luck and screwed once more and again. As if once was not enough.

]]> All of us have a basic and integral need for appreciation by other in life.   Otherwise we would all be hermits or at least solitary like the lives of most hamsters.

Yet when this need becomes too strong, over demanding or even pathological then it becomes an issue.

At hand may be your boss or supervisor.   If your boss has an overwhelming need to be “liked’ you can show that you do respect him or her , but that legitimate results are much more important to life , to the world and in this case to work and the organization than simple popularity.

At the end of the day when you leave the office , you are going to be the same person who entered in the morning.  Whom likes you and who does not – does it really matter to any great or greatest degree.  On top of that when you get down to it – much of what goes on in life and in the minds of others is serendipity that you have little control or influence over what so ever.

Yet you may get a superior that when you attempt to discuss this just stares off in space.

Talk about a lack of rationality of cause and effect.  You would think first of all you are at your place of employment for an income to feed yourself and your family , or perhaps gaining expertise and experience for a better or another job.

Yet the moron may just stare into deep space. Who knows why.  Do they consider you a peon who is beneath their discussion of the matter – that you and your view really don’t count ?
Or is this that they see such questions as a direct threat to their power and position – that you want their job and are “causing trouble “?  Or is it that they are a drunkard nursing over the last

hangover ?  Or is that they are just morons ?

The truth is its probably a combination of all of the above.

Clueless – rah rah rah … we are proactive……  Yet the latest concepts ( paradigm shift)  most likely came from an article read with no depth of understanding what so ever , and no context from a magazine in business class , that the “boss read”  in executive business class, while having a few scotch whiskey, on the way for a “meeting”  to “discuss” with you the latest ideas and implementations from head office dealing with cost saving decisions , strategies and tactics decided at the latest “upper level management meetings’.

Worse yet its all taken with no depth of comprehension or understanding what so ever.  For example the lecture may be on that most workers / reps / salespeople under-utilize the greatest tools of efficiency – being typically – email , cell phones , pay phones telephones. Fine ok.

The next demanding conversation deals with “I am not used to people using the devices – phone , cell phones email etc”.   In other words we should keep busy regardless of end efficiencies and effectiveness proving how scared of me you are scurrying around driving from here to there – wasting time in traffic , at the parking lot etc etc etc.

What a waste of time and sheer stupidity !  No doubt about it.

Its not unlike a group of bank robbers – robbing gold bars and then having one group of the activity leaving a bar of gold out on plain view

For example “There is nothing more important than an employee’s relationship with her or her boss.  Numerous studies have shown that the linchpin of great performance, long-term commitment , at all levels of any business or corporate organization are long term relationships”.   But although most hiring managers will look at the personality fit and fits  between themselves and job candidates (?)  , few prospective employees give this component much consideration what so ever – often to their greatest regret and regrets if they discover later on ( if not within 10 minutes ) of being hired its all too late.  Hello earth calling!

What about the phrases and slogans by managers and supervisors – ” I am responsible… I take personal responsibility for all actions and those of my workers and hires”.  Sort of like being thrown under the bus.

]]> Change is not only never easy – it goes against the basic inertia of any workplace and in any sense of relationships – human or not.   Despite all the excitement that change and changes can bring to your working life and lives  – both good , bad and downright uncomfortable and even evil  – you no  doubt have all about the amount and degree of change that any human being or person can possibly handle.  However as change continues at its pace no doubt you will go through four different distinct phases in response to this “phenomonem”

1) Denial.  Deny ot. When change happens, the first invariable response  you have like the majority of people is downright denial. Shut your eyes , most likely it will go away.

This is not unreasonable.  It most cases it will.  Time heals all , and in most cases problems left unattended will diminish and even go away

2) Resist it. Resistance can be king.  However at some point , you may well realize that change is not just a random even clerical error.  However all in all this does not mean the you accept to the change and changes 100 %

3) Explore the change – maybe it is not all bad. Nothing is 100 % good or evil

4) Accept the change.  This is the final stage of change.  Ultimate acceptance.

The system and systemology is simple as all that.

Positioning is now recognized ( by many authorities)  as a fundamental – or at least a major underpinning – for market driven companies – at least in the scheme and schemes of manage mold  or perhaps better said – moulds.

Positioning is strategic, and it’s main purpose  ( perhaps) is to differentiate  the company from all it’s competitors  in people’s or perhaps “victim’s “  minds.  It is thus sometimes referred to as the “Battle for the Minds”  or better put “Battle for or of the “little minds”".

Why , or perhaps alternatively put – this is because positioning involves not so much what people perceive  but rather what ….. you do.    Thus this is what makes positioning and its ultimate purposes and powers  a most difficult challenge and set of challenges for most companies , enterprises and organizations in that it seeks an ultimate goal or set of goals of associations in people’s minds, that is to establish what the company , group or products mean to their lives.

Its not unlike peer pressure in a biker gang , and wanabees being told “You are not part of the group….. do you see how they are looking at you..”

At the worst it could be said that at least the women of the night are performing an important social function and have some value in life , and as well are performing an honest days work

Not so with most politicians ( especially the current crop) and most bosses or supervisors

It might be well said that America and American politicians are not involved in a true “democracy”
I voted Republican / Democrat because my father / pappy did is the  refrain of most

It can be said that the situation is not unlike that in a country town with two drugstores

Troublesome customers can go back and forth between the two establishments with their imagined woes

On top of that , when problems arise ( as they are bound to do in life) , the customer can go to the “other one” to come back later

Thus if problems do happen on the job , or in interactions the establishment / management is never held to task or asked to be truly accountable
