It might be well said that understanding and influencing the minds of consumers / your boss in the marketplace is a key to understanding either business success or alternatively your longevity at the workplace / work site.
Positioning is now recognized ( by many authorities) as a fundamental – or at least a major underpinning – for market driven companies – at least in the scheme and schemes of manage mold or perhaps better said – moulds.
Positioning is strategic, and it’s main purpose ( perhaps) is to differentiate the company from all it’s competitors in people’s or perhaps “victim’s “ minds. It is thus sometimes referred to as the “Battle for the Minds” or better put “Battle for or of the “little minds”".
Why , or perhaps alternatively put – this is because positioning involves not so much what people perceive but rather what ….. you do. Thus this is what makes positioning and its ultimate purposes and powers a most difficult challenge and set of challenges for most companies , enterprises and organizations in that it seeks an ultimate goal or set of goals of associations in people’s minds, that is to establish what the company , group or products mean to their lives.
Its not unlike peer pressure in a biker gang , and wanabees being told “You are not part of the group….. do you see how they are looking at you..”

Positioning strategies seek overall to influence people to think that there is something different or ultimately unique about this company, product or set of products. It is not unlike insurance or perhaps prescription pharmaceuticals being an intangible good or set of goods. Selling the prestige of an alcoholic beverage might be said not to be far off as well.
If “people” cannot see anything unique , then economic factors such as price , and price alone come into play and govern the purchasing decision or set of decision. This so to speak is not a place that you want to be.
The company’s products or services then are little more than sheer commodities or put another way the employee or groups of employees become little more than numbers on the ledger of head offices or management and its all about “production” sheer production alone. Thus no extra effort , or efforts need to be made to shield staff ( production centers) from the ravages of moronic management and supervisory

It might well be said in life that the lesson is that ultimately we control little and we have little control over others and ultimately even ourselves.
Yet many types continue this passion to the gates of insanity or at least into their lives of managers.
You would think that this lesson would be apparent to these people of high intelligence and motivations (?) ….. You might think that they would be most concerned about the time spent away from employees . Yet it seems their biggest preoccupations seem to be proving to their staff the golden rule – that is alternatively “those that have the gold rule ” or “the rules are golden and they are My Rules”.
It might be said “Who Cares ?” or ” Little things for little minds”
Yet these types persist – into the gates of insanity or at least abject foolishness or foolhardiness.
Worse yet its a case of monkey see , monkey do as they follow the example and examples of long gone or long dead managers who preceded them.
What a bunch of stupid people and downright morons !

It is often attributed that if the first profession or first means of work were prostitutes then politicians came second
Yet one wonders where the role of bosses or that of supervisor staff came into play or into the limelight ?????
At the worst it could be said that at least the women of the night are performing an important social function and have some value in life , and as well are performing an honest days work
Not so with most politicians ( especially the current crop) and most bosses or supervisors
It might be well said that America and American politicians are not involved in a true “democracy”
I voted Republican / Democrat because my father / pappy did is the refrain of most
It can be said that the situation is not unlike that in a country town with two drugstores
Troublesome customers can go back and forth between the two establishments with their imagined woes
On top of that , when problems arise ( as they are bound to do in life) , the customer can go to the “other one” to come back later
Thus if problems do happen on the job , or in interactions the establishment / management is never held to task or asked to be truly accountable
