An apparently most important point and concept that often gets forgotten or waylaid in the writing of these important “memos “  to the troops is to always explain and mention the reason or reasons for said memo.

This might be said it is akin to the victim of  a lynch mob being explained why he is hanging from the noose.  If it is readily apparent – good , if not the reason may be the event is occuring because their is no logical reason by any means , forms or rational explanation.   Yet the powers that be will go out of their way to make sense and rationality out an apparent non-rational even arbritatry choice or decision.  Ultimately it comes down to “It has been decided”

The example might be given of a test given in a standard form by a well known forensic psychologist.

The story is told and elaborated that at the  funeral of her mother a young lady meets a man of her dreams.  She has never met nor related to any person  by this means previously what so ever.  Two weeks later this young lady savagely murders her sister for no apparent reason.  What is the reason ?  Can you explain this – subjects being interviewed and assessed were asked.

The answer that those who were labelled psycopaths – indeed this may well be a very good test of  “management potential”  was that the girl killed her sister – because she knew at the funeral that she would meet that man or a similar personality yet again.

Somehow this makes great rational sense both in the mind of psycpaths  and past , present and future managers as well as those with “management potential”

More of the same – Here we have the “To Do list” of memos
Imagine the ability to comprehend  and prioritize  …..

- Do summarize the policy upfront

- Use the subject line to subject between the new or revised policy and an already established one.  Without such a subject-line  clue ( or lack of clues – a clueless alchoholic stupor itself a commundrum ) ,  the reader or poor victim  often skips ( or cannot even be bothered to even open the envelope), thinking that he , she or it  is already more than informed  about the stated ( or unstated) policy or policies

It can be said and summarized – what a waste of time , who needs it and you would be better off to have stayed home in bed rather than be subjected to just foolishness and downright waste of time.

Yet it all goes under the guise of  “Management “  and “Management Prerogative”

You may well have received such instructions from  “Head Office “  – Perks Central

It is an amazing fact of life ….rah …. rah .. rah that perks and power trips come first and foremost

If people are “no longer with the company”  it is often is not usually in the form of a power trip.  The concepts of what productivity and results these personalities brought to firm are seldom discussed or noted .   Never mind as well the investment in time , energies and “Management Time ” ( and expense was involved)

Its a case of the rules are golden – we are here to discuss and be open minded t0 what we want…….  I am the boss

Here is one example of the mindset :

General Guidelines for Contributions:

Although the company’s contribution  program  will be administered in a flexible manner in response to changing community needs, the general guidelines below will apply:

1) The company prefers to focus its giving though significant  contributions ( in excess of x $ dollars) to key organizations rather than to numerous smaller contributions to many organizations

2)Contributions  are limited to nonprofit organizations  exempt from taxation under the Internal Revenue Code and Codes

3) All recipients will operate their programs  according to equal opportunity objectives

4) Commitments should generally not exceed three years to assure the company’s flexibility  to changing needs

5) Requests / proposals for funding  should be submitted during the second quarter of the year preceding funding

6) All solicitation made by phone  verbally should be verified in writiting

The amazing part that with all of these rules and guidelines how many times management will simply sabotage efforts on the “front lines” when it comes to short sighted – almost knee jerk reactions , poorly thought out or through, when it comes to funding to important customers that is arbitrarily changed and reneged upon . Lol lots of laughs.
